SLMC is a weekend workshop on the art and craft of stage lighting design. This in-depth, yet not-too-technical workshop covers all aspects of stage lighting from the basics right up to the more advanced design techniques and is aimed at anyone who is interested in stage lighting or who is a theatre practitioner who wants to improve and expand their knowledge base.

SLMC was first held in 2001, and takes place over a Saturday and Sunday. All attendees are given a handbook with notes covering the various topics that are discussed during the weekend. It also includes a ticket to see a show on the Saturday night which is then reviewed on the Sunday morning. Lunch and refreshments are included on both days.

SLMC offers a unique opportunity to meet and talk to other members of the theatre community as well as to meet the various suppliers of lighting equipment which is on display and available to experiment with. There are practical components with inter-active areas where attendees can put the day’s sessions into practice.

Several guest speakers also present at SLMC making it an invaluable technical, creative and (hopefully) inspirational weekend for all.
